Books for the Philippines (2008)

 

            AFTA donates balikbayan boxes full of books, textbooks, workbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other teaching materials to different public schools in the Philippines.This aims to provide educational/instructional materials to those who need them the most in the rural areas of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Adopt a School (2012)

 

At least twice a year, a school in the Philippines which is identified by AFTA to be in dire need of assistance, receives Balikbayan boxes full of educational materials and supplies that the students and teachers need in their classroom. These materials are being donated by AFTA members and their friends or are acquired through fundraising activities. Other basic school children’s needs such as slippers and book bags are distributed to the children of these identified “adopted” school during summer when the AFTA teachers and volunteers conduct their BALIKTURO Project in the Philippines.  

 

 

Adopt a Scholar (2014)

 

            AFTA awards scholarships by providing full tuition and miscellaneous fees to less fortunate, especially members of indigenous tribes or communities and potentially capable students to become future educators enrolled in state colleges and universities in the Philippines. AFTA accepts qualified and reputable donors to sponsor its scholarship program aside from its fundraising. 

 

 

Gawad Teknolohiya (2014)

 

         Instructional materials like calculators, educational software, overhead projectors, document viewer, etc. are donated to selected high schools and state colleges and universities in the Philippines. These materials can help teachers more effectively in the advancement of their instruction.
